The Municipal Radio Station of Heraklion, Attica, “Epikoinonia 94FM,” first began broadcasting in 1989 and has operated continuously ever since. It is regarded as one of the first independent municipal radio stations to broadcast legally in Greece, alongside pioneering stations such as Athina 9.84 and Kanali 1. From the beginning, the station has maintained a strong orientation toward both news and entertainment programming, with particular emphasis on political affairs, local government, culture, sport, and issues of social solidarity.
Today, Epikoinonia 94FM is among the very few municipal radio stations in Attica that have managed to maintain continuous operation despite the economic crisis, presenting an objective, pluralistic, and open to society program. The station broadcasts on 94 FM as well as online.
